A Colorful, Theatre-Inspired Wedding at Château du Pordor

Last June, Ludivine and Louis said “I do” at Château du Pordor, for a colorful, joyful wedding that felt deeply personal to them. Their story began with theatre: they met through this shared passion, which naturally became a common thread throughout their wedding day.

I had already had the pleasure of creating the floral design for Ludivine’s sister’s wedding in 2023, in a completely different atmosphere, with soft, autumnal tones – a wedding you can discover again here. It was therefore a real pleasure to work with Ludivine and Louis and create their wedding flowers at Château du Pordor.

A theatre-inspired wedding ceremony at Château du Pordor

I have had the pleasure of working at Château du Pordor several times, creating wedding flowers and floral installations for different celebrations. But this was the first time I had the opportunity to work in the château’s theatre.

With its stage, deep red curtains and beautiful theatrical atmosphere, the room was already a spectacular setting for a wedding ceremony.

For Ludivine and Louis, getting married in the theatre was an obvious choice. It suited their story perfectly, while also creating a warm and intimate atmosphere for their ceremony.

For the floral design, I wanted to complement the existing architecture rather than compete with it. A generous floral installation was created along the edge of the stage, with botanical garlands adding movement and softness.

The floral palette was colorful and vibrant, combining flowers and foliage in a natural, loose and organic style. The different shades worked beautifully with the deep red curtains, creating a theatrical setting while keeping the overall feeling fresh and garden-inspired.

Colorful and organic wedding flowers

For this wedding at Château du Pordor, the floral design was deliberately generous, colorful and full of movement.

Rather than creating perfectly symmetrical arrangements, I worked with flowers and foliage in a loose and organic way, allowing each variety to keep its own personality.

This is at the heart of my approach to wedding flowers: creating natural, expressive floral designs inspired by the season, the venue and each couple’s story.

I particularly love flowers that feel as though they could have been gathered from a generous garden – a little wild, a little unexpected and never too perfect.

Floral installations designed to evolve throughout the wedding day

When designing wedding flowers, I always try to think beyond a single moment or location.

Here, the floral installation created for the ceremony was later moved and reworked at the entrance to the reception.

The flowers were used alongside the seating plan and guest book, giving the installation a second life and creating a visual connection between the ceremony and reception.

Repurposing floral arrangements in this way is an important part of my approach as a sustainable wedding florist. It allows us to create an abundant floral atmosphere while making the most of every flower and installation throughout the day.

A wedding where theatre took centre stage

The theatre theme wasn’t limited to the ceremony or floral design.

During the reception, Ludivine and Louis surprised their guests with a performance of a scene from a Molière play, right in the middle of the meal.

It was a wonderful and completely personal touch – a playful reference to the story of how they met and a perfect illustration of the couple’s personalities.

Their wedding at Château du Pordor was full of these personal details, making the celebration feel unique and genuinely theirs.

A wedding full of color, flowers and personality

This Château du Pordor wedding was a beautiful example of how floral design can become part of a couple’s story.

The colorful wedding flowers, the theatre setting, the unexpected performance and the different floral installations all came together to create a celebration that felt joyful, generous and deeply personal.

As a sustainable floral studio based in Nantes, I work with couples and wedding planners across Nantes, Brittany, the Pays de la Loire and Western France to create natural, poetic and organic wedding flowers that are designed around each celebration.

What the couple said

“Marie had already created the flowers for my sister’s wedding, and we had loved them, so it felt completely natural to turn to her for ours. And we couldn’t have made a better choice!

We loved our conversations throughout the planning process. Her kindness, and above all her passion for flowers and weddings, really shines through. She immediately understood what we wanted, and we felt completely confident about the result.

And on the wedding day, we were truly amazed. Marie chose such beautiful and original flowers for us, and the final installation was simply spectacular! A real fairy tale.

A huge thank you, Marie, for the incredible work that made our wedding so magical! You can trust her with your eyes closed.”
